Carlton M. Haley, M.D. is a native of Dallas where he graduated valedictorian of his class at Hillcrest High School. Attending SMU on an academic Presidential Scholarship, he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in biology. After a summer of research in the molecular genetics department, he earned his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He served his internship in internal medicine at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and then returned to Texas where he completed three years of medical and surgical training in ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Haley is a board certified ophthalmologist who truly values the physician-patient relationship. He is devoted to maximizing state-of-the-art technology to improve the vision and eye health of his patients. He is an experienced cataract, Toric IOL, and laser surgeon, and he is also dedicated to treating nearly all medical eye disorders including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and inflammatory and infectious eye disease. In addition, he provides routine eye exams for contact lenses and glasses.
He served as a volunteer clinical assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical School where he instructed cataract surgery to resident physicians. Dr. Haley is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society, the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
